How to make an impact

There are many great places to give in the Department of Mechanical Engineering; however, you can make the biggest impact by giving to our most important priorities.

The Mechanical Engineering Fund

Your gift to this fund helps to defray the costs of educating tomorrow’s leaders and also assists in advancing the frontiers of engineering knowledge in our department, on campus, and beyond. The Mechanical Engineering Fund will be used for the greatest needs of the department, such as providing resources for breakthrough research projects, equipment for labs, or providing students with experiential learning opportunities.

The Scaife Hall Fund

Carnegie Mellon University will be breaking ground on a new Scaife Hall in 2020. Your gift to this fund will support the construction of the building’s expanded, technology-rich labs; modern, flexible classrooms; and spaces that facilitate formal and informal collaborations. The building will more than double the size of the existing one, expanding the footprint on Frew Street, forming an engineering and maker quad with Hamerschlag and ANSYS Halls, and creating a new entrance to campus.

The Tech Spark Fund

Enabling undergraduate student activities, research, and inventive hands-on learning, the Tech Spark is a cornerstone of the College’s maker ecosystem. The space spans student facilities in a renovated wing of Hamerschlag Hall and brand new ANSYS Hall. Your gift to the Tech Spark Fund supports programming and initiatives within the Tech Spark, such as undergraduate student experiential opportunities, curriculum development, equipment and materials for hands-on learning experiences.
